After many months of tests and assessments, tissue typing determined that Brian would be a suitable donor and the surgery was successfully completed yesterday (Friday).

In a telephone conversation with his daughter this morning Brian said he felt like he had been kicked hard but was OK and expected to be transferred from the 'high dependency' unit to a normal ward later today.

Tests reveal that the donated kidney is functioning well and Helen will continue to be closely monitored in the HDU for the next couple of days.

7th February Update.  Brian is now home and Helen is expected to be home later today.
